TCS NYC Marathon Opening Ceremony presented by United

Marathon Finish Line, Central Park
We’ve expanded our services on the world’s largest (and best!) marathon to include production of the iconic Opening Ceremony, where thousands of runners parade Olympic-style into the finish line area as their countrymen cheer them on. Our partners at New York Road Runners get the participants to Central Park and then we take it from there. Each nation has a flag bearer and most dress in appropriate costumes or uniforms as they step off from the finish line and head down the parade route surrounded by thousands of cheering guests. Custom music and lighting accompanies each group and after Team USA parades through (last and largest, appropriately), everyone gathers for the Marathon Opening Ceremony Fireworks presented by Poland Spring, which has a NYC-themed custom soundtrack designed by Eventage. It’s a true celebration of what binds us together as citizens of earth, and we’re proud to be a part of it.

The TCS NYC Marathon is one of the greatest public spectacles in sports, and we’re proud to have been a New York Road Runners partner since 2005. We currently handle the opening ceremonies, three runner service and sponsor zones, the charity village at the start on Staten Island, the management of the 26 medical stations along the route, the safe delivery of the fluids and baggage for elite athletes and the logistics behind the Athletes with Disabilities program. For the record, only our Partner Jen Glass has actually run the race – in a very respectable 4:45:45. We also run the medical and fluid stations for NYRR’s NYC and Brooklyn Half Marathons.
