Make-A-Wish Walk For Wishes

Sharing stories of Wish Kids across the nation

Akron, OH

Make-A-Wish America looked to Eventage in 2014 to develop and execute a new ceremony and experiential element for their Walk For Wishes events.  After extensive research and interviews conducted over 6 months as to what stakeholders thought would make the on-site experience more powerful and help connect more people to the cause, Wish Kid Stars were designed and created to be given to each registered participant and begin to tell the story about Wish Kids from across the nation.  The stars are integrated into the new opening ceremony and the stories continue online and encourage participants to take action beyond the walk.  The new elements were tested at a pilot walk in Akron, OH and feedback was extremely positive.  In October 2014, Eventage Partner & Chief Creative Officer Matt Glass presented the pilot’s findings and next steps at the organization’s national conference in Phoenix.

“Wow! What an amazing event. I have heard such amazing feedback about the Wish Star experience at the walk. I was in tears during the opening ceremony… One moment that really touched me was when I looked over to our Logistics lead and she was sobbing. She has helped out with planning the walk now for 3 years and I think this was her first experience really interacting with our mission. Thank you again for making our walk super special.”
